Passengers can once again bring their MacBook Pro laptops on flights in Vietnam as the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) recently lifted a flight ban on the product.

The laptops had been banned from all flights in the country since August over fears they posed a fire risk.

The CAAV lifted a flight ban on 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops with defective batteries. This means MacBook Pro laptops produced between September 2015 and February 2017 that either are turned off or have had their batteries replaced can now be brought on flights.

The CAAV also banned air transportation of damaged lithium batteries and electronic devices using faulty lithium batteries that are subject to manufacturers’ recall.

Following the instruction, national flagship airline Vietnam Airlines (VNA) announced a ban on all damaged lithium batteries and devices using those batteries from its flights from November 15.
