Cat Bi airport area to shrink

The area of Cat Bi International Airport in Hai Phong City has been adjusted down by 13 hectares to 488.02 hectares compared to the 2012 plan.

The change of the Cat Bi International Airport master plan until 2015 with a vision to 2025 has been approved by the government.

Under the adjusted plan, about 175.5 hectares would be used for civil aviation, 119.1 hectares managed by the civil aviation authority and 193.22 hectares utilised by the military.

As of 2025, Cat Bi International Airport will meet 4E standards of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). Passengers transport capacity will reach eight million passengers per year, equivalent to 2,800 people in every rush hour. Meanwhile, goods transportation will be 250,000 tonnes a year.
