The Ministry of Transport has decided to increase the flight frequency on domestic routes starting today, December 1, especially flights on routes connecting Hanoi, HCM City and Danang.

According to the ministry’s decision issued on November 30, local carriers are allowed to operate a maximum of 16 daily round-trip flights on each of the routes, including Hanoi-Danang, Hanoi-HCM City and Danang-HCM City, in the first half of December. Currently, there are six daily flights operated on each of these three routes.

In the second half of December, the frequency on these routes will be 20 round-trip flights per day.

As for the other domestic routes, no more than nine flights will be operated daily.

The ministry asked the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to flexibly adjust the domestic flight frequency based on the Covid situation to meet the travel demand among the people during the upcoming New Year and Tet holiday.

Further, the ministry added that anti-Covid requirements for air passengers would remain unchanged.

Passengers have to test negative for Covid within 72 hours before departure if they reside in areas under lockdown or at extremely high risk of Covid transmission, or board flights departing from extremely high-risk areas or from the Tan Son Nhat and Can Tho airports.

Other passengers have to meet one of the following requirements: having received full vaccination, testing negative for Covid, or proving they have recovered from Covid within the last six months before their flights.

In addition, passengers are required to declare their health status before departure. Those with symptoms of fever, coughing, shortness of breath, muscle pain, sore throat and loss of taste will not be allowed to fly.
