The construction of five East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) stations in Kelantan will turn the areas into big city centers which will contribute to economic development for the people. The five stations are in Pengkalan Kubor and Wakaf Bharu in Tumpat; Tunjung, Kota Baru; Jelawat, Bachok; as well as Tok Bali in Pasir Puteh. International Trade and Industry minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the mega project will bring more development to the state, especially at the five stations and it will also contribute to businesses, investments, trade and tourism.

In fact, he said, it will also contribute to the creation of many jobs in Kelantan which will be beneficial for the people. “This project is really important because it will lead to economic growth for Kelantan especially in Tunjung which will be turned into the biggest city centre as soon as the ECRL station is complete “This positive impact was realised when Datuk Seri Najib Razak became the prime minister. Previously we were neglected but Najib will continue to love us,” he said in his speech during the ECRL ground breaking ceremony which was officiated by Najib.
