Leading Vietnam software giant FPT will invest VND6.7 trillion (US$291 million) in the Information Technology (IT) Service Centre, FPT Complex, in the central city in 2021-23.

Chair of FPT Software (F-Soft) Da Nang company, Nguyen Tuan Phuong, said funds had been allocated for infrastructure, apartments and offices for at least 10,000 employees and experts and 80,000 families.

He said a 1,300-apartment project and IT infrastructure will help the complex in the digital transformation process and become a leading software exporter in the coming years.

“A series of key projects will be built in the second investment phase of the FPT Complex in the years to come. We will focus on developing education systems, software and telecommunications,” he said.

“We have developed an educational system from primary school to university for training human resources for our company, partners and Da Nang,” he added.

Phuong said despite COVID-19, F-Soft still earned revenue of VND1.228 trillion ($53.4 million), of which 96 per cent was from software exports, in 2020.

He said Japan is a key export destination of F-Soft Da Nang, as it accounted for 70 per cent of software export turnover, while the US and Korea are promising markets.

“Japan is still a key market of our exports with more than 2,000 employees working for F-Soft Japan. We also plan to open representative offices in the United Arab Emirates to expand in the Middle East after successful market access to Europe and Japan,” he said.

F-Soft Da Nang employs 3,200 IT staff and has been training 10,000-Bridge Software Engineers (BrSE) in Japan since 2014.

F-Soft Da Nang had completed the first phase of investment with $23 million in the 5.9ha FPT Complex.

According to the city’s information technology and communications department, the IT industry created revenue of VND30.38 trillion ($1.3 billion).

The IT and communications industry of Da Nang created 40,000 jobs, of which 50 per cent are in software development.
