Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and co-founder of Facebook, will visit Thai prime minister Prayuth Chan-ocha in Thailand later this month.

Deputy prime minister Somkid Jatusripitak said today that the Facebook chief will meet with the junta chief on October 30 to discuss plans to expand Facebook in Southeast Asia.

Somkid added that the meeting will be good for the image of Thailand since Facebook is a data centre that connects people worldwide, Prachachart reported.

“It is good that a global-level online business owner is visiting us. Online entrepreneurs in the United States and China are realising the region’s importance and seeking cooperations with Asean many have opened branches in Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam. Thailand is one of the countries being watched by the world and considered for partnerships, in one way or another,” the deputy prime minister said.
