Failed VNM partly tumbled HSX

SAB continues increasing after five days but VNM sold only 5.4 percent of its charter capital.

VNM decreased due to an unsuccessful auction partly made by both VN Index and VN30-Index which decreased 3.37 points (0.51 per cent) and 6.81 points (1.1 per cent) respectively. On the HNX, both main indexes also decreased; the HNX-Index by 0.82 points (1.03 per cent) and the HNX30-Index by 1.87 points (1.31 per cent).

The VNAll-Index closed down 11.32 points (1.2 per cent) and the UPCoM Index decreased 0.26 points (0.46 per cent). The VNMid Index decreased 9.37points (1.2 per cent) and VNSml fell 16.13points (2.11 per cent).

HSX saw 61 shares increasing and 198 decreasing while HNX saw 69 increasing and 174 decreasing.

Liquidity on HNX was VND315 billion ($13.92 million), about 7 per cent lower than December 9, and on HSX liquidity was VND2.3 trillion ($101.68 million), up 53 per cent.

The VN Index opened at 663.7 points and decrease to 661.6 at the middle of the morning session, after that it increased slightly to 662.8 before decreasing again to 661.5 and closing the morning session at 653.1. The VN Index continued decreasing significantly to the low of 658.9 and then recovering slightly to close up at 659.7 at the end of trade.

Most large caps on HSX decreased, of which, VNM, reduced 1.5 per cent on trade of VND194.05 billion ($8.57 million). VNM opened the auction in the afternoon today with SCIC selling 130.63 million VNM shares, representing 9 per cent of their charter capital with a starting price of VND144,000 ($6.37).

However, there were only two bidders participated in the auction and only 5.4 per cent of VNM’s charter capital sold with the winning price the same as the starting price, consequently, SCIC collected VND11.28 trillion ($498.68 million) from this auction.

VNM – F&N Dairy Investments Pte Ltd and F&N Bev Manufacturing Pte. Ltd were the bidders of VNM’s auction, both are subsidiaries of Singaporean food and beverage giant Fraser & Neave Limited (F&N) and the company is already a strategic shareholder of VNM.

Post-auction, F&N increased it’s owning on VNM from 11.1 per cent to 16.5 per cent.

ROS remained the highest trading value today with some VND339 billion ($14.98 million) changing hands.

SAB continued increase to a ceiling of 7 per cent after five consecutive days.

All banking shares on HSX closed lower: CTG decreased 2.6 per cent, STB 2.4 per cent, BID 1 per cent and VCB 0.4 per cent

In energy, GAS closed at its opening price, while PGD lost 1.3 per cent and PVD increased 2.3 per cent.

Among the large caps on HSX, VIC closed at its opening price and BVH and MSN decreased 2.2 per cent and 0.512 per cent, respectively.

On HNX, PVS and VCS increased 2.4 per cent and 0.6 per cent respectively. Others decreasing include: VCG 8.3 per cent, PHP 7.6 per cent, SHB 4.1 per cent, PVI 0.8 per cent and ACB 0.6 per cent.

Foreign investors net bought on HSX by VND125 billion ($5.52 million), and HNX by VND9 billion ($397,890).
