Indian Consulate general hosts webinar to share knowledge about IT

The Consulate general of India in HCM City on September 8 organised a webinar on the topic “[email protected]: Building the IT Capital of India” to showcase the strength of India in the field of information technology.

The webinar attracted the participation of 500 senior government officials, enterprises and business associations from India and Vietnam and lecturers and students from over 20 universities and colleges in HCM City and other southern provinces of Vietnam.

Shailendra Tyagi, director at Software Technology Parks of India-Bangalore, highlighted the key aspects of the IT evolution in the “IT Capital of India” Bangalore and mentioned the various initiatives by the India government to speed up the development of the IT sector in India.

Mentioning Bangalore as the centre for innovation and entrepreneurship, Tyagi gave credit to the city’s world-renowned startup ecosystem which has made 18 unicorns and more than 60 Soonicorns.

Continuing on the topic of IT startups, Pravin Gupta, founder and CEO of CredenTek Software & Consultancy, showed the participants a realistic business plan for all future entrepreneurs. With decades of experience working in the fintech sector and consulting for IT startups, he gave a detailed demonstration on building a successful startup business plan.

Muralidhar Joishy, head of India Operations, Inspirage, walked the participants through India’s journey in education transformation that turned India from a poor British colony into a global technology powerhouse.

Dr Le Van Vinh, dean of the Faculty of Information Technology from the HCM City University of Technology and Education, talked about how Vietnam is working to change from an assembly country into one that cares about improving technological autonomy and training more entrepreneurs through its many initiatives.

An overview of the startup ecosystem, future opportunities and current trends in Vietnam was shared by Vu Anh Tuan, director of Quang Trung Software Business Incubator. He also introduced the role of the Quang Trung Software Business Incubator with a mission to support IT and Software entrepreneurs in the early stages.

Dr Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul general of India in HCM City, said that in the near future, HCM City is set to become a financial, commercial and IT powerhouse of the region. He hoped that a variety of activities in different sectors would not only lead to stronger cooperation and deeper understanding between the two countries but also explore training opportunities for the younger generations of Vietnam.

The webinar was part of a series of webinars on India’s socio-cultural, political and economic identity to enhance interaction and engagement, and promote mutual understanding between Indians and Vietnamese.

The Consulate general of India in HCM City will continue to organise more webinars in the coming days in various sectors to improve mutual understanding and collaboration between the two countries. The webinars are aimed at commemorating 75 years of India’s independence.
