All 13 people who were on board in the Hercules C130 plane have been killed after the Indonesian air force aircraft crashed into a mountain, confirmed the rescue agency on Sunday. The mishap happened at around 6.15 am local time, during a training exercise in the remote region of Papua.

Bodies of the victims, including three pilots and 10 military personnel, are being brought back to Jayawijaya Regency’s capital Wamena from the crash site on Lisuwa Mountain. Hercules C130 was carrying food supplies to mountainous Papua and lost control mostly because of the bad weather.

Reuters reported that the operational director of Indonesia’s Search and Rescue Agency, Ivan Ahmad Riski Titus, said that the transport plane was travelling from city of Timika to Wamena when crash happened.

Sunday’s aviation incident was also the second such incident that has take place in Indonesia this month. On 3 December, a plane crashed in Riau Islands province killing 12 people. President Joko Widodo, raising concerns about the poor air safety record of the country, said that the government will review the air force fleet.
