The Saigon Hi-Tech Park Incubation centre (SHTP-IC) and the Startup Vietnam Foundation (SVF) on May 5 launched IoT Startup 2018 competition to develop a sustainable startup ecosystem.

The annual competition aimed at encouraging business startups in the Internet of Things (IoT) sector is open to all interested people, especially those in the startup community.

The difference between the contest this year and those in the past is that contestants are divided into two groups with one comprising students from colleges and universities and one consisting of startups.

Pham Duy Hieu, SVF chief executive officer, said IoT Startup 2018 will connect startups to a network of experienced mentors and investors.

Do Tran Anh, CEO of Farmtech Vietnam JSC and the winner of the 2017 edition, said it is necessary for startups to create products meeting real demand.
