Japanese retail giant becomes Citimart’s strategic partner

Citimart supermarket says that it has completed the procedures on strategic business cooperation with Aeon Mall, Japan’s leading retail unit. Accordingly, the new name of this unit will be AeonCitimart.

Without disclosing details of the transaction, Lam Minh Huy – Chair of the Board of directors of Citimart, in his talk to reporters of the local online newspaper Vnexpress, says Aeon shall help this unit change almost all of the new management system, supporting the initial steps in the brand association, and change of the operating method.

In addition, the two sides will jointly exploit the sources of goods from Vietnam and Japan, and quickly develop the number of new markets in the future. “In the coming time, the two sides will share with each other difficulties and profits”, emphasized Huy.

Citimart was born in 1994, and belongs to the management of the Dong Hung Trading Service Co., Ltd The first supermarket was located at No. 235 Nguyen Van Cu (District 5, HCM City). Currently, the system has been developed to nearly 30 supermarkets in six provinces and cities of Vietnam such as Hanoi, HCM City, Hung Yen, Nha Trang, Binh Duong, and Kien Giang.

Meanwhile, Aeon Mall group started to open the shopping centre system in Vietnam in 2013. So far, this unit has had two big shopping centres in HCM City and Binh Duong. It is expected that by 2020, the group will have about 20 shopping centres in Vietnam.
