Market shows best performance since August

Although VNM fell, the market shot up to finish trading above the 650 point level.

The VN Index increased robustly today by 10.84 points (1.6 per cent), the highest increase since the middle of August. The VN30-Index also increased 8.55 points (1.41 per cent) and on HNX the HNX-Index increased 0.69 points (0.89 per cent) and the HNX30-Index rose 1.71 points (1.23 per cent).

The VNAll-Index closed up 10.63 points (1.15 per cent) and the UPCoM Index rose 0.27 points (0.47 per cent). The VNMid Index increased 7.16 points (0.19 per cent) and VNSml rose 12.51 points (1.68 per cent).

HSX saw 165 shares increased and 83 decreased while HNX saw 122 decreased and 59 decreased.

Liquidity on HNX was VND327 billion ($14.39 million), about 13.93 per cent higher than yesterday, and on HSX it was VND1.95 trillion ($85.83 million), more or less the same as yesterday.

The VN Index opened at 654.66 points and increased quickly to 661 points at the beginning of the morning session, then decreased slightly to 659.1 points before increasing to close at 660.7 at the end of the morning session. The VN Index continued rising through the afternoon session and closed up at 665.14 at the end of the day’s trading.

VNM stands out of the increasing trend among large caps and its own sector as this stock continued to decrease for the third day in a row by 0.2 per cent with a trading volume of some VND156 billion ($6.86 million). SAB, another food and beverage stock, meanwhile, saw impressive trading gains as it is up 7 per cent to the ceiling for the seventh day in a row. The other shares in this sector also increased: VHC 3.5 per cent, KDC 2.8 per cent, STB 2.6 per cent and MSN 1.8 per cent.

ROS increased 2.4 per cent on trade of VND223.48 billion ($9.83 million)

Two steel shares – HPG and HSG – saw high trade, of VND108 billion ($4.75 million) and VND68 billion ($3 million), respectively, and both gained, by 3.9 per cent and 2.7 per cent.

Most banking shares on HSX closed higher. BID increased 6.3 per cent, STB 3.7 per cent, VCB 1.2 per cent and CTG 0.3 per cent. While MBB closed at its opening price and EIB was down 1.5 per cent.

GAS remained stable and closed at its opening price, meanwhile CNG and PGD increased 1.5 per cent and 1.9 per cent respectively, and PVD lost 0.2 per cent.

Among the large caps on HSX, BVH increased 1.9 per cent, MWG 1.6 per cent VIC 1.1 per cent.

Among the large caps on HNX, VCG was up 3 per cent, SHB 2.2 per cent, PVS 1.8 per cent while ACB and PHP closed at their opening price. In addition, PLC and PVI lost 0.7 per cent, 0.4 per cent, respectively.

Foreign investors net bought on HSX by VND14.21 billion ($625,.5 million) and on HNX by VND6.56 billion ($288.8 million).
