There are 32 enterprises with market capitalisation from $1 billion upwards listed on two stock exchanges so far, from just one enterprise five years ago.

Noticeably, market capitalisation of Vietnam Dairy Products JSC is nearly $10.2 billion; of Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam is more than $9 billion; and of Vietnam Airlines is nearly $8 billion.

By the end of January 2019, there were 755 stocks and fund certificates across the market and more than 800 stocks registered on the UPCoM with total listing value of more than VND1.23 quadrillion ($53.17 billion), up 26 percent compared to the end of last year.

Last year, there were several new large-cap enterprises and banks listed on the two stock exchanges in Hanoi and HCM City. Market capitalisation rose 12.7 percent compared to the previous year, accounting for 71.6 percent of gross domestic product, exceeding government’s plan for 2020. Of which, industries with large capitalisation include real estate with VND848 trillion ($36.52 billion), banking with VND756 trillion ($32.55 billion) and foods and beverages with VND679 trillion ($29.24 billion).
