The prime ministers of Malaysia and Singapore have discussed the Periodical Commuting Arrangement (PCA) to facilitate the movement of people between the two countries.

In a statement, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the PCA was among the things he discussed with his Singaporean counterpart Lee Hsien Loong over a phone call yesterday.

“I contacted my colleague specifically to discuss the reopening of our borders, following discussions between Foreign minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and his Singapore counterpart Vivian Balakrishnan on June 24,” he said.

Muhyiddin said they agreed that the reopening of the borders should be done in accordance with health guidelines and protocols to regenerate the economic and tourism sectors for mutual benefit.

Under the PCA, residents of both countries can work in another country for less than three months and will be allowed to return to their home country for breaks.
