The Malaysian Embassy in Ankara, Turkey, has confirmed that no Malaysians were affected by the bomb attack in Kayseri yesterday.

In a statement earlier, the Foreign Ministry said the embassy is in close contact with Turkish authorities as well as Malaysians in the country, including students in Kayseri.

The ministry also reminded all Malaysians residing in Turkey to be vigilant at all times.

“Malaysians are also advised to refer to safety guidelines posted on the ministry’s website,” the statement read.

The Malaysian government has condemned yesterday’s terrorist attack, which occurred in Kayseri, a city located 322km from Ankara, where a car bomb killed 13 people and injured 55 others.

“Our government extended our condolences to the Turkish government (and) family members of the victims affected by the attack,” the ministry said.

Malaysia hopes the perpetrators will soon be brought to justice, it added.
