Personnel in the banking sector surges in H1/2015

Statistics of six banks that have released financial reports in the first six months show that the number of staff increased 2,234 people, higher than the total additional staff in the whole year 2014. The average income of these banks was more than 15 million dong per person per month, up seven percent from the average in the first six months of 2014.

*Rising personnel

As per the data compiled from the consolidated financial statement in Q2/2015 by six banks, the number of bank staff in the first six months of the year continued to rise.

Just within the first six months of the year, the personnel of Eximbank, MB, ACB, Sacombank, Vietcombank and VietinBank increased 2,234 people. This figure was greater than the total number of increased personnel in the whole year 2014 of the six banks (2,112 people).

According to statistics, Sacombank had the highest number of staff. In January-June, personnel in Sacombank surged 712 people to 13,320 people, or 5.6 percent.

The increase in MB was 5.8 percent (399 people) compared to 5.1 percent in ACB and 5.4 percent in Eximbank. The personnel in VietinBank only swelled 46 people (0.2 percent) compared to 299 people (2.1 percent) in Vietcombank.

*Average income

The average income in H1/2015 of bank staff improved seven percent year-on-year, from 15.6 million dong per person per month to 16.7 million dong per person per month.

Of which, two banks that had the average income to fall included MB and Sacombank. The average income in Vietcombank nearly unchanged while the average income in Vietinbank, ACB and Eximbank surged.

With the rise of Eximbank, the income of staff in six banks was more than 15 million dong per person per month, in which, the highest was Vietcombank and VietinBank. The earnings of staff in two banks including ACB and Sacombank was equal.

*Labour productivity

The total pre-tax profits in six months of 2015 of six banks were 11.680 trillion dong, up 2.1 percent year-on-year. However, due to the strong personnel increase, the average productivity in the first half of this year decreased 4.8 percent year-on-year.

The average pre-tax profit/staff/month arrived at 26.77 million dong compared to 28.13 million dong in the same period last year.

MB was still the bank having the highest staff productivity, reaching 42.7 million dong profit/staff/month, followed by Vietcombank and VietinBank.

Comparing between productivity (pre-tax profit/staff) and income, we can see that VietinBank, MB and Vietcombank are more efficient than other banks. In ACB, the average income of staff is greater than generated profits.
