Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte got a record-high performance rating with 80 percent of adult Filipinos polled giving him the thumbs-up, according to a new survey of independent pollster Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey released on Monday.

The second quarter 2019 SWS survey, conducted from June 22 to June 26, 2019, found 80 percent of adult Filipinos satisfied with Duterte’s work.

Compared with March 2019, the SWS said the gross satisfaction with Duterte rose by one point from 79 percent, and gross dissatisfaction fell by one point from 13 percent.

“This gives a net satisfaction rating of +68 (percent satisfied minus percent dissatisfied), classified by SWS as very good. This is a new personal record-high that surpassed the previous record of very good +66 in March 2019 and June 2017,” the independent pollster SWS said.

Moreover, the SWS said the Duterte’s satisfaction rating stayed “very good” in the Philippine main Luzon island, in the Visayas region in the central Philippines and even in Metro Manila, the country’s capital.

“It stayed excellent in Mindanao,” the SWS said. Duterte is the first president who hails from the southern Philippine Mindanao island.

Duterte’s net satisfaction rating is also up in urban areas, the SWS said, adding that even in the rural areas Duterte got a “very good” rating.

The June 2019 survey was conducted using face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults, or 18 years old and above, nationwide.
