Prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today met with DAP and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) leaders at the Perdana Leadership Foundation here.

It is understood that the meeting with representatives from the two parties was so that they could submit the list of MPs for the remaining Cabinet positions.

“I have met with Tun and have submitted the list of recommended MPs from PPBM to head the ministries,” Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin told reporters when met after the closed-door meeting.

“We only have a total of 13 MPs, minus Tun, myself and Mukhriz… so our number is not big,” he said, referring to Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir as well as the total number of PPBM MPs.

Muhyiddin said the appointment of the Cabinet should no longer be delayed in order for the new government to begin the country’s administration.

“We have a lot of work to do… it is important to speed up the appointment process.

“We have been given a large mandate. The people put high hopes on us and would like to see us as a government that does our work,” he said.

The Pagoh MP said he leaves it to the PM to conclude his decision on the Cabinet, whom he said had also consulted other party leaders.

Also spotted leaving the venue earlier at 10am were DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, Seremban MP Anthony Loke, and Puchong MP Gobind Singh Deo.

Auditor-General Tan Sri Madinah Mohamad was also seen to have entered and left the location.

PKR President Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azisah Wan Ismail, who is also the deputy prime minister, had met with Dr Mahathir, yesterday, to discuss the Cabinet line-up.
