A quilt handmade by Lee Suet Fern, wife of the late prime minister Lee Kuan Yew’s youngest son, sold for $33,000 at an auction.

The winning bid had gone to a Geraldine Lim, said Dignity Kitchen, social enterprise Project Dignity’s food court, in a post on its Facebook page on Monday (26 October). Project Dignity trains, finds jobs for, and employs people with disabilities, intellectual and social challenges.

Lee and her husband Hsien Yang had matched the winning bid, bringing the total raised to $66,000. Proceeds will go towards the renovation efforts of Dignity Kitchen’s facility.

The 106 cm x 106 cm quilt called “Dignity Blooms” was made during the COVID-19 lockdown, according to a previous Facebook post by Dignity Kitchen.

“The rich shades of blue navy, cobalt and royal to reflect honesty and trustworthiness, emerald greens for harmony, freshness, and renewal, and fuchsias to inspire confidence and assurance for the days ahead,” it said.
