Sabaco records eight successive day of increases on December 15 as VN30-Index the only main index to close down.

The VN30-Index was the only main index to fall on December 15.

Liquidity on HNX was VND353 billion ($15.55 million), 8 per cent higher than yesterday, and on HSX was VND1.94 trillion ($85.47 million), more or less the same as yesterday.

The VN Index opened at 655.14 points and increased to its peak of the day of 667.9 points early on before tumbling to its bottom of the day of 664.1 points soon after. It then recovered to close the morning session at 667.4 points. In the afternoon session is slid downwards, to 664.1 points early on then recovered to 667.4 points late on before closing at 665.92 points.

VNM fell again, by 2.4 per cent on trade of VND351 billion ($15.46 million); the highest on HSX today. ROS followed, with trade of VND338 billion ($15 million), and increased in price by 0.8 per cent.

SAB increased to its ceiling for the eighth day is succession, by 7 per cent, and is now the second-largest cap on HSX. Capitalisation today stood at VND135.63 billion ($5.94 million), on trade of VND80 billion ($3.52 million), the third highest on HSX.

In banking, CTG increased 1.4 per cent, STB 1.3 per cent and VCB 0.6 per cent, while EIB lost 5.6 per cent, BID 1.3 per cent and MBB 0.4 per cent.

In energy, PGD fell 4.1 per cent, GAS 0.9 per cent and CNG 0.6 per cent.

Among large caps on HSX, VIC was down 1.1 per cent and HPG and MWG 0.8 per cent, while MSN and SSI closed at their opening price.

On HNX, PHP increased 3.1 per cent, ACB 0.6 per cent and VCS 0.3 per cent. VCG lost 1.4 per cent, PVS 0.6 per cent and NTP 0.1 per cent, while PVI, DBC, SHB closed at their opening price.

Foreign investors net sold on HSX by VND26 billion ($1.14 million) and on HNX by VND2.2 billion ($96,926).

Despite gains, the market experienced a narrow increase range and a significant fluctuation. While SAB seemed to be the only pillar of the VN Index, foreign net-selling pressure on VNM and VIC along with the oil and gas group’s worse-than-expected movement hampered the market. We see the appearance of profit-taking pressure, especially as the VN Index is in the resistance range of 665-670 points. In the next sessions we expect strong fluctuations and the possibility of the VN Index crossing over 665-670 points and retesting the next resistance range of 675-680 points. However, this is not a good time for disbursement because of the dominance of the downtrend and no clear bullish reversal signs. We keep our previous recommendation to reduce stock weight in rising sessions.
