Research Laboratories of Saigon High-Tech Park (SHTP Labs) on May 20 signed a deal to supply nano silver to Pomax JSC to manufacture DrOH-branded hand sanitiser for local consumption and export.

Nguyen Quoc Dung, general director of Pomax, noted that the quality of his firm’s nano silver hand gels was certified under US and European markers. Pomax has also signed contracts to supply DrOH hand gels to trade partners in coronavirus-hit markets in the United States, Canada, Germany and to other buyers in Europe, with a volume of 4-6 million bottles of hand sanitiser available within 45 days.

Dung added that the demand for hand sanitisers from these importers remains high amid the coronavirus pandemic. However, the firm’s ability to ship an adequate volume of the item still depends on SHTP Labs’ ability to increase its nano silver supply capacity.

Silver nanoparticles have long been considered an effective disinfectant. Thus, an SHTP Labs research team has studied the process to manufacture nano silver and apply it to the production of hand sanitisers.

According to SHTP Labs director Ngo Vo Ke Thanh, SHTP Labs researched and registered the intellectual property rights for its nano silver product, adding that it is willing to support enterprises attempting to commercialise the material on a large scale.

Nano silver developed by SHTP Labs is ecofriendly and contains no chemical substances that could cause irritation to the hands.

A major challenge for SHTP Labs is that it has to develop technology to make nano silver in large quantities. Accordingly, the research team has mapped out many solutions to meet businesses’ high demand.
