Singapore Airlines (SIA) will launch non-stop flights between Singapore and Los Angeles on 2 November, the airline announced on Wednesday (11 July).

SIA will use the new Airbus A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range) aircraft for the route, it said in a news release.

Flight SQ38 from Singapore to LA will fly three times per week on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The frequency will increase to daily from 9 November with another A350-900ULR aircraft entering the service.

From 7 December, three more services per week will be added, bringing the number of non-stop flights between the two cities to 10 times per week.

SIA’s current service from Singapore to LA via Seoul will cease after 30 November with the introduction of the non-stop flights.

In addition to SIA’s current daily one-stop service to LA via Tokyo, the airline will fly to the US city 17 times a week.

SIA will also increase its non-stop flights between Singapore and San Francisco from seven to 10 times a week as from 28 November. Together with SIA’s current daily one-stop service to San Francisco via Hong Kong, the service to the US city will increase to 17 times per week.

“Our US services have always been popular with our customers and we are pleased to be able to provide even more travel options,” said Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong.
