The Vietnam International Machinery Fair 2019 (VIMAF) and the Vietnam Supporting Industry Fair 2019 (VSIF) kicked off in the Saigon Exhibition and Convention centre in HCM City’s District 7 on December 11, featuring 460 booths run by 300 exhibitors.

The fairs were part of a series of events boosting the development of the supporting industry in 2019, organised by the HCM City Department of Industry and Trade in collaboration with Korean Association of Machinery Industry, Coex Vietnam and HCM City Association of Machinery and Electric Enterprises.

The organiser noted that this year’s fairs attracted firms from various countries and territories, including Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, the United States, Japan, Singapore, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, China and Taiwan.

Well-known brands, such as Doosan Infracore; TOPEYE Corporation; Neuromeka; Shinseng industrial Co., Ltd; HBL Inc.; Chowel Corporation; and Micron CNC Co., Ltd, are also participating in the events.

The exhibitors are showcasing supporting industry products and new technologies, alongside introducing new production trends in the sector.

Pham Thanh Kien, director of the HCM City Department of Industry and Trade, stated that the products from supporting industries displayed at the fairs made up 30 percent of all exhibits, while metal products and metal machining solutions accounted for 30%, and materials, accessories and machines for construction represented 25%. Electric equipment and machines used in factories made up the remaining 15%.

A seminar, themed “New outlook for output and product safety on the global market—the digital era,” will be held within the framework of the two fairs, which are set to wrap up on December 14.

At the events, the organiser will also offer a business-to-business programme connecting seven buyers—Nippro, Samsung (SEHC), Samsung (Singapore), Chatwork, Source of Asia, Minamida and Nextern—with supporting industry manufacturers.

HCM City has rolled out a host of promotional programmes and activities to link local firms and foreign enterprises. As such, HCM City-based firms have gradually become suppliers for multinational groups and have joined global supply chains.

The annual events, VIMAF and VSIF, have offered local firms the opportunity to seek out partners.
