The government on Tuesday condemned the New Year’s Day terror attack in Istanbul, Turkey and conveyed its condolences to the victims and their families.

The mass shooting, which occurred in the early hours of the morning at a nightclub in the Turkish city, left at least 39 people dead and 65 others injured, including many foreigners, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) said in a statement.

“The Republic of China government condemns all inhuman terrorist outrages, expresses its deepest condolences to the victims and their families and hopes those injured will make a quick and full recovery,” the ministry said.

According to the MOFA, no Taiwanese nationals were killed or injured in the attack, though Taiwan’s representative office in Turkey has advised Taiwanese in the country to be cautious and remain alert at all times.
