Taiwan reports 266 new COVID-19 cases, 28 deaths

Taiwan on Thursday reported 266 new COVID-19 cases 263 domestic infections and three imported ones and 28 deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command centre (CECC).

The new cases bring the total number in the country to 12,222, of which over 10,500 are domestic infections recorded since May 15, the first day the county reported over 100 cases since the outbreak began in early 2020.

The 28 fatalities were 21 men and seven women, aged 50 to 100, who passed away between June 1 and June 9, the CECC said.

To date, 361 people have died of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 349 since May 15.
