Former presidential candidate Tan Cheng Bock and the prime minister’s younger brother Lee Hsien Yang were seen having breakfast at a hawker centre in West Coast, Sunday (4 November).

On his Facebook page, Dr Tan said he and Lee went to the West Coast Food Centre at Block 726 Clementi West on his suggestion to “catch up” as they had not met for some time.

“This morning I had breakfast with Lee Hsien Yang. We wanted to catch up with each other as we have not met for quite a while,” Dr Tan said.

The hawker centre is in Dr Tan’s former Ayer Rajah constituency where he was a People’s Action Party MP from 1980 to 2006.

Dr Tan described the meeting as “good”.

“It was a good breakfast, not only the food, but the sharing we had on world affairs and the current state of politics in Singapore,” Dr Tan said.

Dr Tan recently said he is open to leading a proposed opposition coalition. He also admitted in the past to be open to mentoring aspiring politicians.

Lee most recently was the Chair of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). He and his sister Lee Wei Ling were embroiled in a dispute with their brother and prime minister Lee Hsien Loong over their late father’s Oxley Road property.
