The central province of Thua Thien-Hue plans to expand Phu Bai International Airport and support airlines in launching more international routes to the province to attract 4.7 million tourists this year, Thua Thien-Hue vice chair Phan Thien Dinh said at a conference held in the province on January 14.

At the conference on plans for Thua Thien-Hue’s tourism sector this year, Dinh said that at the end of March, the province would spend VND10 billion on site clearance for a project to develop passenger terminal T2 at Phu Bai.

According to Le Huu Minh, acting director of the provincial Department of Tourism, the department is coordinating with the provincial Tourism Advisory Board to help AirAsia and Hai Au Aviation launch new air routes between Hue and Thailand.

In addition, the prime minister’s approval of the master plan on developing the National Tourist Destination Lang Co-Canh Duong in the province by 2025, with a vision toward 2030, will help create a legal corridor and an attractive environment to attract more investment to the local tourism sector.

This year, the province will build breakwaters at Chan May Port and call for investment in a project to develop the port into an international tourism port, Minh added.

Further, more tourism information centers will be opened to provide visitors with travel information and consulting services as well as to introduce souvenirs.

Tourism promotion programmes will also be held in West European, Northeast Asian and Asean countries. The province will also cooperate with media agencies and bloggers to make videos about tourist sites in Hue and the Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2019 and will continue teaming up with Vietnam Airlines, Vietravel and tourism information websites such as, IVIVU and Traveloka to promote Hue’s tourism profile.

Vietravel general director Nguyen Quoc Ky suggested that Hue attract more tourists from Hanoi and HCM City as well as other Asean countries, especially Thailand. percentE2 percent80 percent99l-flights-to-promote-tourism.html
