The Ministry of Transport has so far reduced and simplified 384 out of 570 business regulations to facilitate enterprises following a directive from the government, the ministry said on April 3.

In the first quarter of this year, the ministry simplified and amended 13 administrative procedures in addition to abolishing five procedures in order to create favourable conditions for enterprises and individuals amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Transport minister Nguyen Van The.

*The ministry also proposed that the government and Ministry of Finance consider the exemption and reduction of several tax lines for transport enterprises.

The ministry proposed the exemption of import tax and environmental protection tax imposed on flight fuel from January 21 to December 31, 2020 or for 90 days after the prime minister announces the end of the pandemic.

The payment of corporate income tax, personal income tax and foreign contract tax is also suggested to be reduced or postponed.

The government is also asked to consider the exemption and reduction of mooring fees in case ships are anchored for a 14-day quarantine period.

*The transport ministry said that the government has approved the transition from public-private partnership (PPP) to public investment for eight North-South highway projects. These projects are expected to commence this August after being approved by the National Assembly.
