At a government meeting held this morning, July 8, prime minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc told the Ministry of Transport to begin work on three sections of the North-South Expressway in late August.

On June 19, the National Assembly had issued a resolution changing the format of investment in Mai Son-National Highway 45, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay sections of the cross-country expressway from public-private partnership (PPP) to public funding.

Based on suggestions from the National Assembly’s Economic Committee, the government tasked the minister of Transport with deploying these compoments of the expressway project after the PPP format was scrapped.

According to the Ministry of Transport, site clearance for Mai Son-National Highway 45, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay sections has been completed 81.3%, 95 percent and 76.8%, respectively.
