Trade talks between Taiwan and Japan concluded in Taipei Wednesday which led to both parties signing two cooperation memorandums on product safety. Outside the building where the talks were held, people stood protesting against the importation of contaminated food products.

The protests were sparked because of talks to end the ban of produce imports from irradiated regions of Japan. These areas included Fukushima, Gunma, Chiba, Ibaraki and Tochig. Each of these being contaminated by the well known Fukushima Meltdown which happened in 2011.
