Vietnam”s government is focused today on reaching the growth target proposed in the country of 5.8 percent for 2014, and at its regular monthly meeting, verified the promising results so far this year.

A report presented by the Planning Ministry showed that until August, encouraging progress was seen in almost all economic sectors, specially in agriculture, industry and services, along with a controlled inflation rate and increase in export values.

Prime minister Nguyen Tan Dung, presiding over the two-day meeting, urged the main agencies, branches and localities to concentrate resources to meet proposed goals by creating premises for higher growth in 2015 and subsequent periods.

He said that measures aimed at increasing economic demand, encouraging investment and promoting production must be analysed, while urging a restructuring process at state agencies, commercial banks and the agricultural sector.

But he immediately added that this last aspect in no way should be construed as capitalisation solely through authorised measures, emphasising instead, the independent management of entities, direction and attention of their workers and performance.
