Kagoshima’s Governor Satoshi said he aims to boost cooperation between Kagoshima and Vietnam on various fields, particularly on agriculture, in which the prefecture has strong expertise.

Vietnam supports the establishment of a direct flight route to Japan’s Kagoshima prefecture for greater cooperation and tourism between two sides, according to prime minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Over the past few years, Japan’s investment capital to Vietnam has been increasing but remains below the potential of the two countries, Phuc said at a meeting with Kagoshima Governor Mitazono Satoshi on October 16.

Phuc requested Kagoshima prefecture to increase investment to Vietnam, saying the Vietnamese government fully supports Japanese investors.

On this occasion, Phuc offered condolences to Japan on the destruction caused by typhoon Hagibis. Phuc stressed Vietnam and Japan are strategic partners with close ties, not only at government level, but also at provincial prefectural level, including Kagoshima.

Phuc encouraged provinces and cities from Vietnam and Japan to form cooperation in new fields and sectors.

At the meeting, Kagoshima’s Governor Satoshi said he aims to boost cooperation between Kagoshima and Vietnam on various fields, particularly on agriculture, in which the prefecture has strong expertise.

Satoshi informed Phuc the delegation has signed memorandum of understanding with Hai Duong province on developing human resources and agricultural technologies.
