Vietnam welcomes 2.3m international tourists in Q1/2014

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism -Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on March 26 said on March 2014, the number of international tourists to Vietnam was estimated at 709,725, down 15.71 percent from February 2014.

However, totally in the first quarter of this year, the number of international arrivals to Vietnam reached more than 2.3 million, a year-on-year increase of 29.3 percent and the total revenues from tourists reached 70.2 trillion dong, rising 31.21 percent from the same period last year.

Particularly, the arrivals for the tourism and resort purpose accounted for 1.4 million people and the arrivals for relative visit’s purpose reached 403,829 people.

In Q1/2014, international arrivals from China accounted for the biggest number with 587,475 tourists, followed by Korea and Japan.

Also in Jan-Mar, the number of domestic tourists reached 13.7 million, rising 6.85 percent from the same period last year.
