VN Index ends nine-session winning streak

Under selloff pressure, the VN Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange dropped by 0.71%, or 7.14 points, to close at 1,003.08 points today, November 30, ending a nine-session winning streak, which had been its longest winning streak this year.

Losing stocks far outnumbered winners by 247 to 182. The southern market saw 532.93 million shares worth VND11.3 trillion change hands, increasing by 19.37 percent in volume and 14.29 percent in value against the session earlier.

Some 82.88 million shares worth over VND2 trillion were traded in block deals, including 24.3 shares worth more than VND821 billion of steelmaker HPG.

Among bank stocks, BID, CTG and VCB fell by 1.8 percent to VND41,700, 1.6 percent to VND33,500 and 1.6 percent to VND93,000, respectively. Meanwhile, TPB shot up to the ceiling price at VND22,300 and others like TCB, STB, MBB and HDB expanded by between 1 percent and 2.6%.

Most steel stocks lost ground except POM, which shot up to the ceiling price. HPG, HSG, NKG and VIS dropped by over 2%.

Many other bluechips finished the day down, including housing developer VHM, dairy producer VNM, brewery SAB and property firm VIC, which fell by over 1%, and consumer goods company MSN, down 2%.

In the group of speculative stocks, HAG, ITA, LDG, DXG, FLC, ASM and several others ended in the red.

On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index lost 0.46 point, or 0.31 percent against the previous session, to close the day at 147.7 points, with decliners outnumbering gainers by 88 to 69. There were 57.8 million shares worth VND953.9 billion traded.

Largest bank stocks on the northern bourse including ACB, SHB and NVB stayed flat. ACB was the most actively traded stock with 8.94 million shares changing hands.

Meanwhile, many other bluechips lost ground. Investment and industrial development firm IDC, port operator PHP, petroleum stock PVS and construction firm VCG lost 4.7%, 2.1%, 2 percent and 1.2 percent to end at VND28,100, VND14,100, VND14,700 and VND41,700, respectively. Stone processor VCS and insurer PVI fell by below 1%.
