VNM drags VN Index down

VNM decreased again today by 1.7 points from the VN Index. The VN Index decreased by 5.04 points (0.76 per cent) and the VN30-Index by 6.12 points (1 per cent). On the HNX, both main indexes also decreased; the HNX-Index by 0.91 points (1.15 per cent) and the HNX30-Index by 1.95 points (1.39 per cent).

The VNAll-Index went down 8.75 points (0.94 per cent) and the UPCoM Index increased 0.22 points (0.38 per cent). The VNMid Index decreased 6.46 points (0.81 per cent) and VNSml fell 6.27 points (0.84 per cent).

HSX saw 82 shares increase and 167 decrease while HNX saw 91 increase and 143 decrease.

Liquidity on HNX was VND287 trillion ($12.66 million), 9 per cent lower than yesterday, and on the HSX liquidity was VND1.92 trillion ($84.72 million), down 16.5 per cent.

The VN Index opened at 659.7, the downward trend continued all day after the pre-open session when the index hit its peak at 662.6 points. The VN Index fell to close the morning session at 658.3 points and continued to decrease to close the day’s trading at 654.66 points.

VNM decreased 2 per cent with a trading volume of VND193.14 trillion ($8.52 million). ROS remained the highest trading value today with some VND311 trillion ($13.72 million) changing hands and its price decreasing by 6.7 per cent.

SAB continued to increase to a ceiling of 7 per cent after six consecutive days, making this stock become the fourth largest capitalisation on the HSX with a market capitalisation of around VND118 trillion ($5.2 million), replacing VIC with VND110 trillion ($4.85 million) market capitalisation.

In banking, the three largest caps CTG, BID and VCB decreased by 2.7 per cent, 2.1 per cent and 1.4 per cent respectively. MBB and EIB closed at their opening price, while STB increased by 0.1 per cent.

In energy, CNG and GAS moved down 1.9 per cent and 1.5 per cent respectively and PGD went up by 2.3 per cent.

Among the large caps on the HSX, VIC and MWG closed at their opening price and MSN, BVH and HPG decreased by 3.2 per cent, 0.9 per cent and 0.4 per cent respectively.

On the HNX, VCS went down by 3.8 per cent, ACB by 2.4 per cent, PVS by 2.3 per cent and SHB by 2.1 per cent. On the more positive side, PHP went up by 1.9 per cent, PVI by 1.7 per cent and VCG by 1.5 per cent.

Foreign investors net bought VND14 trillion ($617,820 million) on the HSX and VND6 trillion ($264,780) on the HNX.
