Vice President Ma’ruf Amin has urged players of small and big businesses to build partnerships and support one another in a bid to create a conducive business climate.

“We want equal partnership between small and big business players in the form of supporting each other,” the vice president noted in a statement received here, Tuesday.

Creating a productive and conducive business climate is one of the conditions to develop domestic business activities, he remarked during an online meeting with Chair of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission (KPPU) Kodrat Wibowo, Monday (September 20).

Amin assessed that so far, big business players only view the form of partnership with small business players as part of social responsibility, thereby making the partnership only as one wherein big business players provide compensation to small business players.

The vice president called to change such partnership to be equal and mutually beneficial between the two.

He noted that the government had also prepared instruments to support the business climate, including in the Islamic finance industry.

“From the financial perspective, the instruments are sufficient; from big, medium, small to micro and ultramicro. What we still need to do is optimisation,” he expounded.

Meanwhile, Chair of KPPU Kodrat Wibowo affirmed that the backing for mutually supportive partnerships had a significant impact on the development of small businesses.

The KPPU noted that only some nine percent of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) had until now formed partnerships with big business players.

“A lot of work still has to be completed by many parties, including the KPPU, to increase the partnership of MSME players, at least up to 30 to 40 percent,” Wibowo noted.
